In February 2012, FSCJ’s Dramaworks presented a Readers Theatre version of Ti Jean Blues, a one-act play by JoAnne Akalaitis based on the life and writings of Jack Kerouac. Kerouac, a pioneer of the Beat Generation, was known for his method of spontaneous prose and for addressing topics like spirituality, drugs, poverty, promiscuity, and jazz.
The same evening FSCJ’s Forensics team presented Planes, Cain, and Palinmobiles, an original work by Prof. Chad Kuyper compiled from prose, poetry, media, and dramatic scripts which explores the connection between children’s television and political thought.
These shows ran as a double feature in the Black Box at FSCJ's Wilson Center for the Arts February 17-18, 2012.
A recording of Ti Jean Blues is available in Canvas Commons for viewing by FSCJ faculty and staff; currently there is no known existing video of Planes, Cains, and Palinmobiles. For instructions on how to access archival video in Canvas, please see our FAQ.
