Welcome to the College Catalogs Collection.
College catalogs are like annual snapshots of their institutions; glancing at one lets you see immediately what the policies, programs, and facilities looked like in any given year and allows you to easily trace their changes over time. While FSCJ’s catalog has long since gone fully online, it began as a simple seventeen page bulletin in 1966 which even then outlined the new institution’s dedication to educational leadership and cultural development. In its second year, the catalog had what would easily become its most famous cover design when it featured a single red rose. According to an interview with Edna Saffy that appears in A College Tells Its Story, J. Bruce Wilson, FSCJ’s first president, pushed for the design after being struck by the red roses carried by female students during Lee High School’s graduation ceremony.
