In July 20009, FSCJ’s South Campus Wilson Center for the Arts in conjunction with FSCJ’s Artist Series hosted its fourth annual high school summer musical theatre experience featuring Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, the hit Broadway musical based on the movie. With music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, this wondrous fairy tale begins when an old beggar woman asks the master of a castle for shelter from the cold offering only a single rose as payment. The vain and uncaring prince turns her away. Seeing his horrible heart for what it truly was, the old beggar woman turns the prince into a hideous Beast and his servants into different objects. The one way he could break the spell was to learn to love another and earn love in return by the time the last petal fell. Will he learn how to love in time and will he ever find someone to love him in return?
This show ran at FSCJ's Wilson Center for the Arts July 23-26, 2009.
