In July 2011, FSCJ’s South Campus Wilson Center for the Arts in conjunction with FSCJ’s Artist Series hosted its sixth annual high school summer musical theatre experience featuring Hairspray, based on the John Waters’s 1988 cult film. It’s 1962, and pleasantly plump Baltimore teen Tracy Turnblad has only one desire - to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star, but she must use her newfound power to vanquish the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin and integrate TV network - all without denting her ‘do!
This show ran at FSCJ's Wilson Center for the Arts July 29-August 7, 2011.
A recording of this performance is available in Canvas Commons for viewing by FSCJ faculty and staff. For instructions on how to access archival video in Canvas, please see our FAQ.
